Build UK publish recommended PQ contract terms
Build UK members have agreed that collaboration throughout the supply chain will deliver better project outcomes and having just delivered the first phase of the new industry PQ system, Build UK are now publishing a recommendation on contract terms.
The ambition is to form a common ground between construction clients and the supply chain in order to encourage a fairer allocation of risk and realise a more efficient procurement process which re-sets the norm for fair contractual practice.
Build UK received privileged legal advice from Pinsent Masons and in accordance with competition law, the recommendation is non-binding and members must consider on an individual basis whether or not they wish to use the terms in their own contracts. Build UK will not monitor or enforce implementation of the recommendation in any way.
The recommendation directly contributes to achieving commitments made in the Construction Sector Deal and we anticipate that as the industry adapts to more collaborative ways of working, less time will be spent on negotiating contracts and the sector will become more sustainable in terms of productivity, innovation and profitability.
