Build UK reports that the grace period for Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) and Site Supervisors’ Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) certificates that have expired since 1 October 2020 has now been extended until 30 April 2021. For certificates that expired between 15 March and 30 September 2020, the grace period will end on 31 January 2021. Individuals must ensure they have successfully completed the appropriate refresher course by the relevant date, otherwise they will need to sit the full course again.
There continues to be a 12‐month grace period for CSCS card renewals, recognising that it may be difficult to take the HS&E test (or equivalent training required). CSCS is asking that sites use their discretion when presented with cards that have expired since March 2020. All workers should carry the correct card for the job they perform on site and must remember to renew their card within one year of its expiry date otherwise they will have to apply for a new card.
