The Prime Minister has announced that a strengthened three‐tiered system of local restrictions will come into force in England when the current lockdown ends on 2 December. The COVID‐19 Winter Plan details the new restrictions, and construction and manufacturing can continue and tradespeople can work in other people’s homes at all levels.
New restrictions will come into force in Northern Ireland for two weeks from this Friday 27 November. It has been confirmed that construction and manufacturing can continue, building supplies and hardware stores can remain open, and tradespeople can undertake work in other people’s homes.
Level 4 restrictions are now in place across 11 council areas in Scotland until at least 11 December. Construction work can continue provided it is done in accordance with the Construction Sector guidance; however, tradespeople should only carry out essential work or services inside other people’s homes, for example where there is a safety risk.
In the event of workers being stopped on journeys to and from sites, Build UK has produced an authorisation letter template which employers can use.
