Good news stories?
We are keen to hear of any ‘Good News’ stories where members have been supporting the NHS and/or vulnerable groups so that we can help promote a positive image of construction, following some negative press recently. Please send through to membership@spra.co.uk
Can your firm help the NHS?
A search to find firms capable of providing vital service and maintenance work for the NHS at short notice has begun. The Building Engineering Services Association (BESA) is conducting a survey to find out which firms who can do this.
The survey will run until the end of this week and will then be used to provide a list of available companies to help out the NHS. David Frise, chief executive of BESA, said: “The idea is to provide the NHS with rapid and easy access to qualified professionals able to deliver vital repairs and maintenance to keep their facilities working under intense pressure. ”In return, it should generate work for our members and other firms across the sector who are currently struggling in this unprecedented crisis.”

BESA said there had already been more than 120 submissions to the survey and numbers were rising quickly.
PPE – Many Build UK members have already offered PPE for the NHS ‐ if you can supply masks, gloves, gowns or goggles, please contact Build UK as soon as possible.
Information sharing – Thanks to all SPRA members who responded to our questionnaire last week. Please keep answers coming back if things change, or indeed you wish to raise other issues or new situations occurring due to Covd 19 so that we can inform others and support you.

Construction Leadership Council (CLC) is advising employers to issue their workers with a letter explaining that they are a construction worker or supplying services to a construction site in the event that they are asked to verify they are on an essential trip. CLC has published Frequently Asked Questions on the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme and furloughing workers. Further guidance will be published later this week. CLC is aware that the availability of accommodation for construction workers living away from home is becoming an issue and has raised it with the Government.
