Skills shortage – industry failure to train

In the second quarter of this year, “around one-third of UK contractors had difficulty recruiting workers and half had difficulty hiring electricians,” said Noble Francis, economics director at the Construction Products Association. He added that this percentage was likely to be higher in parts of the country where there is high demand such as London. “The industry has consistently failed to train enough workers and that has affected the availability of labour,” he added.
