What a fantastic day we had! Thank you to all our sponsors for 2019 but especially Headline sponsor IKO Polymeric and our Golf Awards sponsors DANOSA, OMG, Recticel and Tata Steel. It’s because of this fantastic support that we can put on great events like this. Although the course was quite a challenge on the legs for those without a buggy, and the wind was a bit breezy in places – the sun shone and I think that all the golfers came off the course tired but happy. We returned to Heythrop Park in Oxfordshire for the SPRA Golf Day 2019 but unlike the conference, this time we took over the old mansion side of the hotel. Golfers and guests were welcomed in the Orangery with glorious views out over the tenth tee for hot bacon rolls, coffee and signing on. Then, after a quick welcome from me, our host for the day, Jeremy Dale, explained the shot gun start and golfers headed out onto the course. Golfers were invited to attempt a trick shot themselves on one of the tees – which was great fun for all and then the teams were able to take advantage of Jeremy’s own shot which invariably landed a long way down the middle of the fairway, regardless of whether he attempted it left or right-handed!
In the evening following drinks in the bar, we were entertained by Jeremy’s trick shot show, and then a wonderful dinner in the ballroom. Photos taken during the day were shown on screens throughout the evening and during Jeremy’s thought-provoking but light-hearted after-dinner speech.
SIG D&T Team 1 were the proud winners of the coveted SPRA Trophy, and the other winners on the day were:
