Standing Ovation for Jim Hooker at SPRA Technical Committee

On Tuesday the 16th of October, Jim Hooker was given a standing ovation by SPRA members at the end of his final Technical Committee as SPRA Technical Director. Jim is hanging up his SPRA clogs at the end of 2019, and although he will continue to offer consultancy services to the single ply industry, his long, formal association and service to the Single Ply Roofing Association will come to an end. Jim was awarded the first ever SPRA Outstanding Achievement Award at this year’s Conference where he also received a standing ovation. Cathie Clarke, SPRA CEO said “Jim has been the cornerstone of SPRA for many years and he will leave a great legacy for us to continue to build on. Jim has been a great colleague and I know he and SPRA will stay closely connected. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Jim for his generous support to me over the last three years and wish him well in his future endeavours. SPRA is very fortunate that Ronan Brunton, formerly of Sealeco, will take over full technical support from Jim in January 2019. Both he and Jim have been working together since August to ensure a smooth hand-over of service for our members and the wider industry, and as you can see from his Jotter this week, Jim is still offering sensible and valuable advice and guidance. Ronan said, “ It is a daunting prospect to follow Jim in this position. He has been so influential to the positive development of our industry over many years. The contribution made by him has been, and continues to be immense. Furthermore he could not have been more helpful to me in recent weeks, proving yet again what a really great person he is”.
