As reported by the CPA the government has accepted the advice of the Climate Change Committee in their 6th carbon budget, and has announced a new target of 78% reduction in carbon emissions by 2035 on the journey to Net Zero by 2050. If achieved, this will enable the UK to meet its requirements under the Paris Agreement to limit global warming to well below 2°. Of course the ambitious rhetoric needs now to be backed by stretching actions from government for all parts of the economy including the forthcoming Heat in Buildings Strategy.
