As Director at SPRA I’m extremely proud of our ongoing contribution to the single-ply roofing industry. Our commitment to ensuring the highest service levels are maintained for the safe, successful delivery of projects nationwide remains as strong as ever. For this, we have to thank the excellent relationship we’ve managed to sustain with quality assured roofing contractors and manufacturers, many of whom are SPRA members. Thanks to their input and considerable knowledge and passion for all things single-ply related, we’re able to fulfil our remit as the industry’s voice, spreading word of the many excellent advances it has made since our formation in 1992.
My nearly 40 years of experience in the construction industry have taught me the importance of collaborative working and how success is more often than not the result of a joint commitment to a good idea. In my current role as Business
Development Director I oversee the Specification and Business Development teams for both the Recticel and Gradient brands. My previous positions include being Head of Business Development at Knauf Insulation and National Sales Manager at Sika-Trocal.
It’s great to be working for companies such as Recticel and Gradient, which share so many of the values SPRA holds dear. We support the association’s promotion of a fabric-first approach in order to create buildings which deliver on thermal performance for the comfort and wellbeing of the occupier. We also subscribe to SPRA’s drive for improved project sustainability in terms of working practices and materials used. Reducing carbon emissions is crucial to tackling the effects of climate change and as the association would no doubt concur, is essential to the environment’s preservation for the health and happiness of generations to come. Additionally, we support SPRA’s drive to upskill its members with its provision of discounted training courses, as we believe this not only benefits the individual, it will help maintain the industry’s well-earned reputation for quality workmanship. SPRA’s resolve to benchmark quality, specification and design also chimes with our ethos. It’s an ambition that is extremely important when it comes to highlighting the standards we expect of ourselves and others within the building supply chain. Values such as this are vital to us ‘building better’ now and in the future.
As for my aspirations as a SPRA council member, it’s my desire to see the association continue to be a force for good for the industry and promote its cause, particularly in respect of the excellent work carried out by our members and the standards of safety and workmanship they uphold. By working together, sharing ideas in regards to best practice with a common aim to take single-ply installation standards to new heights, I’m sure SPRA will retain its position as the industry’s guardian and supporter-in-chief for a further 30 years.
