About Maine Veterans’ Homes

Maine Veterans’ Homes (MVH) is an independent, nonprofit organization caring for Maine’s veterans and their families through compassionate, high-quality long-term care, rehabilitation, and residential services. With six Homes across the state, MVH is nationally recognized for excellence, innovation, and our unwavering mission: Caring for Those Who Served.

Our Augusta Home was the first MVH location built entirely around the Small House Model of care — a nationally acclaimed, person-centered approach that transforms long-term care from an institutional setting into a true home. Each household is designed for 10–15 residents, supported by self-directed team members who provide personalized care, foster independence, and build meaningful relationships in a warm, home-like environment.

Position Summary

At MVH-Augusta, the Administrator supports the home’s unique model that fosters an innovative resident and staff-centered environment. They provide guidance and leadership that maintains the Small House Model philosophy and principles, while creating innovative ways to improve revenue and mitigate costs.

This role is responsible for the overall leadership and daily operations of the Augusta Home, ensuring residents receive the highest quality of care and service in alignment with MVH’s mission, values, and regulatory standards. The Administrator oversees all aspects of facility management, including clinical operations, financial performance, human resources, and resident satisfaction, while cultivating a culture of respect, collaboration, and excellence among staff.

The Administrator provides strategic direction, supervision, and accountability to all department leaders and represents the Augusta Home within the broader community, ensuring strong partnerships with veterans’ organizations, families, volunteers, and local stakeholders.

  • Resident-Centered Care: Ensure each resident attains and maintains their highest practicable level of physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being.
  • Team Development: Recruit, mentor, and retain a high-performing, mission-driven workforce. Provide training, performance evaluations, and opportunities for professional growth.
  • Financial Stewardship: Manage budgets, payroll, reimbursement processes, and fiscal reporting to meet performance goals while ensuring resources support quality care.
  • Compliance & Quality: Oversee all regulatory compliance, including licensure, audits, and reporting. Lead Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives focused on measurable outcomes and continuous improvement.
  • Community Engagement: Serve as the public face of MVH Augusta, representing the Home at community events, veteran activities, and professional gatherings. Strengthen connections with local organizations and families.
  • Collaboration: Partner closely with MVH’s Chief Operations Officer, Central Office leadership, and the Board of Trustees to implement system-wide goals and advance organizational excellence.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of successful administrative experience in a licensed nursing facility.
  • Strong knowledge of long-term care operations, personnel management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proven financial acumen and ability to manage complex budgets.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
