Pay Information: Non-exempt role, $20-25/hr., plus gratuities

Job Description:

Urth Caffe is a renowned specialty coffee roaster and café chain known for its high-quality organic coffee, fresh food, and commitment to sustainability. Established in 1989 as the first heirloom and organic coffee company in the USA. We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Barista to join our team at our location inside the MUNICIPAL Apparel headquarters in Oceanside, CA. This is a fully on-site position. Your genuine passion for coffee, meticulous attention to detail, and commitment to forging authentic connections will guarantee memorable experiences for each customer, contributing to a strong sense of community and leaving a positive impact on the neighborhood. This position will be employed by MUNICIPAL but will operate in the first of its kind Municipal-Urth Caffe as a barista.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare a variety of espresso-based beverages, including lattes, cappuccinos, and mochas, according to Urth Caffe's high standards.
• Prepare coffee beverages using various methods, such as pour-over, cold brew, smoothies, and other seasonal drinks as introduced.
• Prepare and serve food items, including pastries, sandwiches, and salads.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Provide excellent customer service, ensuring that customers have a positive experience.
• Operate the POS system and handle transactions accurately.
• Adhere to all health and safety regulations, experience with cleaning and espresso machine maintenance a plus.
• Conducts line busting during peak periods to expedite customer orders, which may require exposure to various elements.
• Proficient at working independently during shifts with self-directed initiative and minimal supervision.
• Promotes new coffee offerings and seasonal specials to enhance brand awareness and sales.
• Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment with flexible hours of availability.

Qualifications and Experience:

• 2+ years’ experience working as a barista or in a similar role preferred.
• Knowledge of coffee brewing techniques and espresso machine cleaning and maintenance preferred.
• Strong customer service skills and a friendly demeanor.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Passion for coffee and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service.
• Food handler's card a plus.
• Retail experience in a store setting a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Constant standing and walking for up to 8 hours to perform job duties.
• Occasional stooping, kneeling, or crawling may be required.
• Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of objects up to 50 lbs.
• Occasional use of ladders and ramps to access elevated areas.
• Frequent wrist and spine movement during beverage preparation and tasks.
• Constantly receives and exchanges detailed information through oral communication.
• Maintains clear vision for reading orders and interacting with customers.
• Demonstrates precise mental math skills for both following recipes and conducting accurate cash transactions.
