The Community Service Officer (CSO) is a non-sworn public safety professional responsible for supporting law enforcement personnel in maintaining public safety, community engagement, and crime prevention. The CSO performs various field and administrative duties, including responding to non-emergency calls, assisting with traffic control, enforcing local ordinances, and providing information and support to community members.
Key Responsibilities:
Respond to non-emergency service calls such as minor thefts, lost property, and traffic-related incidents.
Conduct routine patrols to monitor community safety and enforce city ordinances.
Assist with traffic control at accident scenes, school crossings, and public events.
Prepare comprehensive incident reports and maintain accurate records.
Provide community outreach, education, and resources to residents and local businesses.
Support sworn officers in crowd management, evidence collection, and other tasks as directed.
Serve as a liaison between law enforcement and the public, fostering positive community relationships.
Participate in crime prevention initiatives and neighborhood watch programs.
Perform administrative duties, including data entry, report filing, and responding to public inquiries.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; associate's or bachelor's degree in criminal justice, public administration, or related field preferred.
Previous experience in law enforcement, security, or community engagement is an asset.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and standard office equipment.
Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
Hourly Pay Rate:
$28.00$42.00 per hour (commensurate with experience and Education)
