Job Description

Environmental Specialist – Contract (3 Years)

Location: Huntersville, NC

Schedule: Full-Time | On-Site

Pay: $33 – $37.50/hr

Duration: 3-Year Contract

We’re seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Environmental Specialist to support environmental compliance and operations at a major energy facility in Huntersville, NC. This is a long-term opportunity to work with a highly respected utility provider, performing vital analytical, regulatory, and laboratory functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform environmental sampling, preparation, and data analysis using specialized laboratory equipment
  • Operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain environmental testing instruments
  • Support compliance with federal, state, and company environmental regulations and standards
  • Analyze environmental data and generate reports using digital systems and technologies
  • Serve as a key point of contact for environmental compliance programs and technical implementation
  • Develop and implement solutions to prevent environmental hazards and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Conduct investigations into environmental incidents and recommend process improvements
  • Interpret regulatory guidelines and communicate technical advice to stakeholders
  • Collaborate with internal teams and subject matter experts to ensure thorough environmental oversight

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Health & Safety, or related field
  • (or 5+ years of directly related work experience in lieu of a degree)
  • Experience: 1–5 years of relevant environmental or regulatory experience
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of environmental compliance, sampling techniques, and lab instrumentation
  • Skills:
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities
  • Comfort managing multiple priorities and projects simultaneously
  • Proficiency in using environmental software systems, databases, and Microsoft Office Suite

Ideal Candidate Will Also Have:

  • Experience supporting nuclear, energy, or industrial operations
  • Working knowledge of federal and state environmental regulatory bodies
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to interface with leadership and technical teams
