POSITION SUMMARY: Plans, coordinates, and manages all patient nutritional care and housekeeping activities. Develops and implements cost-effective, profit-generating nutritional and housekeeping programs. Supervises staff in the Nutritional Services & the Housekeeping Department. Meets all regulatory compliance regulations and standards.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Establishes, maintains, and implements policies, standards of care, and programs in the Nutritional Services Department
- Coordinates and directs the clinical activities, including standards determining nutritional intervention to assure that the patients at highest risk receive appropriate, timely care
- Assesses patients’ nutritional status according to established standards
- Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality
- Obtains necessary information from the medical record to determine the patient's nutritional status
- Implements patient nutrition care programs and ensures consistency of programs
- Supervises Nutrition Office activities, including nutritional care order processing, menu correction, and communication to ensure compliance with standards
- Maintains the department's clinical policy and procedure manual to meet regulatory standards and hospital guidelines
- Orders and controls materials and resources to effectively ensure the quality and availability of supplies
- Assists the Nutritional Services Director in developing and maintaining a departmental budget
- Develops, implements, and documents in-service education programs
- If not a certified dietician, staff will send all dietician consults to the approved dietician that ARC will provide for regulatory purposes
- Manage the daily activities of the Housekeeping department, including the appropriate cleaning of all patient rooms, public areas, and offices
- Planning, organizing, and directing team members to ensure the highest degree of patient satisfaction and high standards of cleanliness across the hospital
- To monitor, check, and maintain standards of cleanliness within all areas of the hospital daily
- Daily supervision of all housekeeping staff at the Bellefonte Hospital & Recovery Center
- Purchase, order, and maintain housekeeping supplies and inventory
- Recruit, schedule, and train all new housekeeping staff members
- Adhere to all meetings, such as health and safety, infection prevention and control, and monthly team meetings
- Manage the housekeeping budget, control the holidays, and staff scheduling
- Maintain a cost control system for supplies, linen, and cleaning for efficient hospital operation
- Uphold the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and conduct
- Ensures the proper maintenance of all equipment and makes arrangements for the repair and/or replacement of used and damaged equipment
- Report any maintenance problems observed in the patient’s bedrooms or around the hospital immediately to the Director of Plant Operations. Before a patient is allocated a bedroom, ensure that all the bedrooms are in full working order
- To assist when required with the cleaning of patient bedrooms
- To manage all site waste disposal and collection, including clinical and confidential waste
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATION:
- A Bachelor’s degree in coursework approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of the American Dietetic Association (ADA) is preferred.
- Proof of passing the national examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) or the National Board Examination for Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDN). Preferred.
- Participates in continuing educational requirements to maintain registration
- Licensed dietitian status is preferred if residing in a state with licensure requirements.
- Previous experience as a Registered Dietitian in an acute care setting is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times
- Must be able to navigate various departments of the organization’s physical premises
Workplace Environment And Essential Physical Requirements - Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time
- Ability to read detailed health records
- Ability to lift and carry up to 10 lbs
- Ability to operate computer and other equipment in the office
- Must have sufficient mobility to move around the office and the community
