Job Description

Engineering Project Manager (Manufacturing/Electro-Mechanical Devices)

Job Description

We are seeking an Engineering Project Manager with a strong manufacturing engineering background to lead the transition of complex electro-mechanical medical devices from prototype through production. This role requires both technical depth and project leadership, with responsibility for driving design refinement, ensuring manufacturability, and coordinating cross-functional teams to deliver robust, scalable production. The ideal candidate brings experience working with electro-mechanical devices with embedded software (e.g., dialysis machines, infusion pumps, imaging systems, or robotic surgical devices) and has demonstrated success seeing projects through from concept to commercialization. Candidates with a pattern of only short-term contracts are not a fit — we are looking for someone with career longevity who can provide stability and leadership through the full product lifecycle.

Day-to-Day

  • Lead cross-functional efforts to transition medical devices from prototype to full-scale production.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation including Bills of Materials (BOMs), assembly instructions, fixtures, line layouts, process flows, and pFMEAs.
  • Collaborate with design and engineering teams to refine products for manufacturability, scalability, and reliability.
  • Drive supplier engagement, component sourcing, and procurement of critical equipment, materials, and parts.
  • Partner with manufacturing operations to establish quality agreements, support design transfer, and ensure production readiness.
  • Guide design verification and validation testing activities to confirm performance and compliance.
  • Apply Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement tools to optimize processes and reduce costs.
  • Act as the project lead, ensuring milestones, timelines, and deliverables are met while coordinating with suppliers, partners, and internal stakeholders.

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering (required).
  • 5–10 years of experience in manufacturing engineering , preferably with electro-mechanical assemblies incorporating embedded software .
  • Demonstrated success leading products from prototype through production and launch; full lifecycle experience required.
  • Proven ability to design, set up, and optimize assembly lines with scalability in mind.
  • Strong knowledge of component forming processes, assembly operations, and design for manufacturability.
  • Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (a plus).
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies (preferred).
  • Medical device or pharmaceutical industry experience highly desirable.
  • Strong project management, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Track record of career stability and delivering results on long-term projects.
