Position Overview

We're looking for a sharp, multi-talented writer who can swing from spreadsheets to story arcs without breaking a sweat. Someone who's passionate about startups and can distill complex financial topics into copy that converts, content that slaps, and stories people can't stop sharing.

The ideal candidate has a finance brain and a marketer's pen. You should be just as comfortable breaking down an acquisition deal as you are writing a viral tweet or distilling a wealth-building framework for 500,000+ newsletter readers.

This is not a one-trick writing gig. You'll write deep-dive breakdowns. You'll write short-form social. You'll write brand messaging, newsletter intros, and downloadable guides that feel more like contraband than content marketing.

You'll report to our Executive Editor, work closely with our CEO, and collaborate with teammates across media, community, and investing.

If you worked here this month, here are some things you might have worked on:

• Wrote a 1,200-word acquisition breakdown that turned a trash hauling business into a must-read case study
• Turned that story into a 3-tweet banger that got 500k+ impressions on Codie Sanchez's Twitter
• Pitched a spicy new guide to help Main Street moguls get funding without begging VCs
• Partnered with our media and community teams to turn dry business frameworks into addictive, wealth-building cheat codes

Key Responsibilities:

1. Storytelling & Strategy: Write high-impact, voice-driven copy across newsletters, reports, case studies, and growth content that informs and converts.
2. Content Versatility: Move seamlessly between formats — from longform newsletters to 2-line tweets to landing pages and lead magnets.
3. Deep Research & Analysis: Bring depth. Learn industries, analyze acquisition tactics, and translate complex strategies into clean, compelling stories.
4. Voice & Brand: Write in a tone that's sharp, contrarian, and never boring. Help refine and evolve our editorial voice as we grow.
5. Speed & Execution: Work fast without sacrificing clarity or quality. Own your deadlines. Turn good ideas into great content — fast.
6. Work Ethic & Attitude: We don't do drama. We don't do divas. We do what needs doing — with hustle and humility.

Necessary Skills and Qualifications

Here's a list of primary skills we believe are necessary for this person to succeed:

• Fast-paced work ethic and startup mindset
• Proven success writing about business or marketing
• Exceptional storytelling instincts and attention to detail
• A strong grasp of tone and voice, with examples to back it up
• Ability to distill complex topics into digestible insights
• Familiarity with finance, acquisitions, investing, and/or small business ownership
• Bonus: experience writing for high-growth media brands or newsletters
