Job Description

Downlite, a Down Bedding Manufacturer located in Mason, Ohio, has an opportunity for a Sourcing Analyst.

Summary:

This role is responsible for purchasing raw materials used in the production of pillows, comforters, and other basic bedding products. The ideal candidate will have some purchasing and sourcing experience in a manufacturing environment. Proficiency in international business is a plus since many of our suppliers are overseas. As the Sourcing Analyst progresses, sourcing and negotiating duties will be added to the purchasing duties.

Responsibilities:

• Solicit quotations, negotiate prices and terms with suppliers, and make recommendations based on cost, quality, and delivery competitiveness
• Manage product development from creation to shipment; coordinate new product design and samples
• Review MRP, determine best delivery schedule, generate purchase orders, monitor production and shipment status
• Analyze supplier capabilities; research market (emphasis on fabrics), attend trade shows, visit potential supplier factories, and coordinate factory audits
• Monitor product quality and coordinate resolution with suppliers for quality issues.
• Manage product through the entire product life cycle – sourcing, material planning, and purchasing activities
• Work with Sales, Marketing, and Manufacturing to meet customers’ schedules

  Requirements:

• Must have excellent oral and written as well as excellent oral and written skills, Mandarin Chinese would be preferred, but not necessary
• Proven business management and /or personnel supervision skills – strong in sourcing / purchasing concepts, practices, and procedures. Experience is preferable in the US home textile market
• Excellent project management skills, including creating schedules and timelines – must be able to work on several projects at the same time
• Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office), especially MRP concepts
• Ability to resolve quality/delivery issues with the factory with little supervision
• Potential of domestic travel for tradeshows and/or vendor visits
• Must be able to establish priorities for proper time management
• Manage the process from product quotation through product implementation
• BS in Textiles or Business Preferred
