As reported last week by Build UK, many construction workers rely on public transport to travel to work, and Transport for London (TfL) is asking the industry for help. To relieve pressure on the tube and bus network, construction sites in London are being urged to introduce staggered start and finish times and support workers to avoid travelling during peak times of 05:45 ‐ 08:15 and 16:00 ‐ 17:30 and to walk or cycle as part of their journey. Co‐Chair of the Construction Leadership Council (CLC) Andy Mitchell has called on the industry to ‘critically challenge what works can genuinely not be done at home’ because ‘for the sake of our workforce, the general public around us, and the national economy, we have a huge responsibility to continue to get this right’.
