UKGBC is facilitating a task group to develop an industry-led definition for net zero carbon buildings, as part its Advancing Net Zero programme. UKGBC is bringing together a broad range of industry stakeholders to define a framework for net zero carbon buildings in the UK market. The aim is to build industry consensus on a definition for net zero carbon buildings, which can then be used to inform project designs, reporting initiatives, planning requirements and building regulations. The primary focus is on achieving net zero for operational emissions (in-use energy consumption) but also taking account of whole life carbon assessments to avoid unintended consequences. UKGBC are facilitating two workshops in Manchester, 12th February 2019, and London, 19th February 2019, as part of their stakeholder consultation to develop a definition for net zero carbon buildings.
