Brexit Special

Government has launched EU Exit webpages to help businesses and individuals in construction prepare if the UK exits the EU on 29 March without a deal. An online toolkit automatically provides links to relevant guidance and technical notices when companies complete the seven questions. Guidance has also been released on product safety marking and moving goods via the Channel Tunnel. You can sign up for updates from the Department for Exiting the European Union.

The Construction Leadership Council hosted a Brexit conference for industry leaders earlier this week to review the potential challenges and risks for construction particularly in the event of a No Deal Brexit. Further information will be circulated when available. (Note – The above was part of a ‘Recruit, Train and Retain Talent’ update. The whole bulletin can be found through the Member’s Area of the SPRA website.)

The CPA have also prepared the following briefing notes on the impact of Brexit: The CPA was asked by government and the Construction Leadership Council to produce two briefing notes about our industry’s contingency planning for Brexit:

A brief note on the effects Brexit will have on the Construction Products Regulations legislation and the practical steps having to be taken by industry to maintain continuity in legally placing construction products on the domestic and EU market
An outline of the implications on construction products, post ‘no-deal’, of the EU regulation REACH.
These briefing notes have been published on the CPA website here, and are available for members and non-members. Since 2016 the CPA has also published updates and reference information for CPA members on our Brexit pages. For further details please contact duncan.king@constructionproducts.org.uk.
