Based in North Somerset, our services are available throughout the UK with the majority of projects in the South and M5 / M4 corridors. We have undertaken projects for Top Tier main contractors, City Councils, commercial businesses, schools, hospitals, hotels and major supermarket chains including Tesco and Morrisons. The majority of our work is carried out for members of the UK Contractors Group.
We are a family owned business with over 30 years’ experience with single ply membranes, liquid water proofing, hot melt systems and now developing our Green roof side of the business, alongside offering sheet metal fabrication for the flat roof / cladding trade.
Started by Tony & Robert Burgoyne ( father & Son) and now being ran by Robert, Jon Burgoyne (brother) and Robin Hambly (brother in-law). We are proud of every project we undertake; therefore every project gets the same attention to detail. This pride in our work, alongside our client friendly work ethic and excellent health and safety record, ensures we stand out ahead of our competitors.
We specialise in new build and refurbishment contracts where there is a need for our extensive knowledge and experience.

The site is situated in the small distinctive town of Bruton in Somerset. The client is Acorn limited and it’s a JCT Design and Build contract. The architect is ADP Architecture.
The site is sprawling in nature and comprises of 68 separate plots. This consists of a mixture of house types and flats. The style is contemporary and approximately half of the units will be deemed ‘affordable’.
The roofs consist of the following types: exposed roofs, green roofs, terraces/balconies with composite decking, pitched roofs with vertical timber cladding (utilising the Nicholson ROOFTRAK system), and pitched roofs with a green roof covering.
Acorn’s website describes the project as being an ‘innovative scheme is modern in style, designed to be energy efficient and highly sustainable, featuring beautiful landscaping in keeping with surroundings to blend nature and design in harmony.’

The insulation was mechanically fixed using IKO’s insulation tubes and fixings. The membrane was fully adhered using the IKOpro Sprayfast adhesive. This significantly increased the speed of installation (we found the spray adhesive particularly useful on the steeper pitch roofs). Using a hybrid system to install the roof (mechanically fixed insulation / fully adhered membrane) meant we lost less time to inclement weather than we might have done with a 100% adhered system.
Due to the nature of the job we found ourselves moving rapidly from one plot to another. Unfortunately, the parapets were not always ready for us to complete at the same time as the field sheet. In this instance we were able to turn the membrane up at the abutment, secure it with peel stop and then return to compete the parapets once they had been formed (using IKO membrane cleaner to ensure the membrane was properly prepared for welding). This allowed the principal contractor to progress with the internal works whilst minimising our remobilisation costs.
