UKGBC Launch new report ‘Capturing the Value of sustainability’

This new report from UKGBC was launched last week and is the first in the construction industry to identify the links between sustainability and business value. Rather than just a simple calculation for the return on investment for a particular sustainability initiative such as an LED lighting upgrade, this project looked at the challenges that businesses face in trying to identify the value they derive from their sustainability initiatives. Quantifying value depends on identifying the relevant value drivers within a business.

The project commenced in April 2017. Phase 1 comprised identifying existing research and building on the existing UKGBC body of work on the business case for sustainability. A survey was conducted in June 2017 with UKGBC members to ascertain the relevant value drivers for built environment businesses and a workshop was held in September 2017 to generate trial metrics. The final report was launched in January 2018 at a launch event in Central London with over 120 UKGBC members in attendance. Download the full report.
