In the UK, SPRA members are working with Waste Resource Action Plan (WRAP) to develop Resource Efficiency Action Plans (REAP’s) for the components used in typical single ply roofing systems. A REAP is available for most insulation products, typically diverts varying proportions to new production, other product uses and incineration, depending on the type. Where volumes justify the cost of collection, waste take-back schemes are also in operation, for example with PIR insulation.

SPRA policy is to reduce disposal to landfill to zero. Ultimately, the carbon content can be recovered by high temperature incineration.
